Our Cash 4 Clothes recycling scheme is designed to benefit local communities, charities and schools.
We are proud to be partners with The Children’s Air Ambulance, helping to save lives through providing textiles banks and door to door collection services
We work with local charities and Portsmouth City Council offering placements to people with health conditions looking to get back to work. Most of our staff have come via this route, we are proud to support these initiatives.
Meet the Team
Dmitry
Company Director
Dmitry is from the Ukraine and had direct experience of the benefits of preloved clothing being reused and sent to poorer communities in Eastern Europe.
He started Astra Recycling in 2013 and with grit and determination now has a successful business that diverts used textiles away from landfill to poorer communities around the world and supports charitable organizations and community services in the process.
Dmitry is involved in all areas of the business from packing and loading textiles to managing accounts. He also makes collections and delivers textile banks so no doubt if you have an Astra textile recycling bank on site, you will see him around!
Charley
Fundraising Manager
Charley joined Astra Recycling in 2019. She is the main contact for the business and the person you will most likely speak to on a regular basis. She continues to help Dmitry build the business, reaching out to schools and community services across the South who could benefit from fundraising through textile recycling.
The little pooch in the picture is Charley’s Chihuahua, Tank. A total pest and liability but a loved member of the Astra team.
